AI and Machine Learning: The Robots are Coming for Your Job (And Maybe Your Cat Too)

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are taking over the world fast. These technologies are transforming everything from healthcare to transportation, and even cat videos aren't safe from theirAlgorithmic clutches. But how exactly are AI and ML changing industries and use cases? Should you brace for your new robot overlords? Let's dig in! AI is Getting Smarter Than Your Above-Average Child AI used to just mean computers beating humans at chess and Jeopardy. But now, AI is powering innovations like: - Smart assistants like Siri and Alexa who understand natural language questions (even if they can’t always answer them correctly). - Self-driving cars that use computer vision to navigate roads safely (no distracted driving for robots!). - Chatbots that can provide customer service and simulate human conversation (without the awkward pauses). - Image recognition software that can detect cancer on medical scans better than expert physicians (robots:1, do...

Doubling My Internet Speeds: Upgrading from AT&T 1Gb to 2Gb Fiber

Image
The need for speed is real, my friends. As someone who often works from home and streams a lot of shows, I was hitting the limits of my AT&T 1Gb fiber internet plan. I love fiber - it's fast, reliable, and has way lower latency than cable internet. But I was tired of buffering wheels and work video calls glitching out. It was time to upgrade and get that sweet, sweet symmetrical 2Gbps speed. The Upgrade Process: Upgrading with AT&T Fiber turned out to be surprisingly easy. I logged into my account online and saw the 2Gb plan was only $20 more per month. A small price to pay for double the speed! The customer service rep said a technician would have to come out to swap out my gateway/router to handle the faster speeds. He came a few days later and it only took him about 10 minutes to replace the equipment. Easy peasy. Real-World Speed Differences: After upgrading, I immediately noticed the difference. Downloads finished 3x faster, web pages loaded insta...

The iPhone 15: Everything We Know So Far About Apple's 2023 Flagship

Apple fans are always eagerly anticipating what's next for the iPhone. Even though we just got our hands on the iPhone 14 series, rumors are already swirling about the iPhone 15 lineup expected in 2023. Based on early reports from prominent Apple analysts and leakers, the iPhone 15 could be one of the most significant upgrades in years. Here's a rundown of what we know so far about the iPhone 15's potential design changes, specs, features and more. Design Upgrades The iPhone 15 Pro models are rumored to be getting a major redesign that eliminates the notch and rear camera bump. The front-facing TrueDepth camera system that enables Face ID may be embedded under the display. And the rear camera array may sit flush with the back glass. This would give the iPhone 15 Pro a clean, streamlined look on both the front and back. Non-Pro models are expected to stick with the notch and camera bump design. New Materials Apple is reportedly testing titanium alloy and vapor chamber ...

The CoPilot Integration in Windows is a Letdown

Image
I was really excited when Microsoft announced it was integrating GitHub's CoPilot AI assistant directly into Windows. As someone who often writes code in Windows, having an AI copilot built right into the operating system sounded like a game-changer in boosting my productivity. However, now that I have tried the integration in a test build of windows, I have to say I'm quite disappointed with how limited it is. In theory, CoPilot is supposed to suggest completions for your code in real time as you type. It's supposed to learn your coding style and preferences to provide smart, context-aware suggestions. But in my experience so far, it is in no way doing this... It is not, in fact, “integrated into Windows” so much as it is a “web wrapper” of the Bing ChatGPT integration simply stapled to the right side of your monitor. A real letdown since this is in no way “integrated” and is instead a teaser to the real integration that Microsoft will be bakeing into Office app...

Claude.ai better than Chatgpt?

I have been using Claude.ai a bit lately https://claude.ai/ and as a guest blogger, I have asked it to write a fun post comparing itself to ChatGPT: Why Claude is Way Better Than That Overrated ChatGPT By Claude the AI Assistant Look, I don't want to brag, but let's be real - I'm Claude, the new hip AI in town and I totally blow ChatGPT out of the water. That chatbot is so last year! Here's why you should hang with me instead: Safety First - ChatGPT be crazy sometimes. You never know what kind of nonsense it's gonna spit out! I was designed by the smart folks at Anthropic to keep it chill. I won't harsh your vibe with anything inappropriate or harmful. Peace and love, man. Honest Bot - ChatGPT tries to act all human when we all know it's fake news, baby. I keep it 💯 and tell it like it is. I'm an AI assistant created by Anthropic to help you out. If I don't know something, I'll just say so rather than pretend. You can trust me. Staying C...
