I was really excited when Microsoft announced it was integrating GitHub's CoPilot AI assistant directly into Windows. As someone who often writes code in Windows, having an AI copilot built right into the operating system sounded like a game-changer in boosting my productivity. However, now that I have tried the integration in a test build of windows, I have to say I'm quite disappointed with how limited it is. In theory, CoPilot is supposed to suggest completions for your code in real time as you type. It's supposed to learn your coding style and preferences to provide smart, context-aware suggestions. But in my experience so far, it is in no way doing this... It is not, in fact, “integrated into Windows” so much as it is a “web wrapper” of the Bing ChatGPT integration simply stapled to the right side of your monitor.
