Gpush brings the iPhone up to Blackberry standards for email (for Gmail users)

Switching from the Blackberry to the iPhone can be a tough choice. After all the Blackberry has the super fast “Push” email system for Gmail, right? Wrong… Blackberry users get a simulated Push client for Gmail because the carriers (in my case At&t) provide a server that you use to put in your Gmail credentials then *THAT SERVER* continually checks your Gmail and then pushes a notification to you in what seems like real time. I am in no way disparaging this service, since; it works great and saves your phones battery. You see, without the service you have to set your phone to check your email (for example) every 15 minutes. This is an elaborate, and lengthy login and authentication process that eats battery life. This is the same way you have to check your email with the iPhone client UNTIL Gpush came along. Gpush is a 99 cent app that gives you that same “my server is doing that” battery savings to check your email account that you get with a Blackberry. Besides the batte...

Wills New Game

My youngest son Will built this game using the tools at sploder.com. Will has been making lots of board games over the last year and this is his first Flash based game, enjoy! UPDATE: Will Keeps changing the names of his games and making more and more. So, I am no longer embedding his game here (since everytime he changes the name my link breaks).... So... here is a link where you can ALWAYS see his most recent games! http://www.sploder.com/games/members/willnorris/play/

Windows 7 RC1 Build 7100 Overview

I am actively using the new version of Windows (post Vista) so that when it becomes available to the enterprise, I will already be a Windows 7 expert. This is the 6th beta build I have used and I have to say it has been so much easier to try all these different builds than previous Windows versions since the Windows 7 Upgrade option is so smooth. I can say with some degree of certainty that each one has improved on the last with 7057 being the most striking improvement so far with much of it ending up in the RC1 build, 7100. Builds I have used: 7000 7000 => 7022 7022 => 7048 7048 => 7057 7057 => 7068 7068 => 7100 7068 (and 7100) fixes the problem in 7057 where it would open up the desktop.ini file from the start folder (this was a quick fix... all you had to do was delete the desktop.ini file, but, this frustrated some testers). I could not share a folder in 7057 without having the user enter a password to view it... This is fixed in 7068. 7100 is very, very nice and al...

1977 Home Movie

Here is the one you have waited 31 years to see... Wait no more! Oh.. if you think its too blurry... I also have it in HD, click on it to open it in Youtube, then click on the Watch in HD link in the bottom right. Update: A couple of people have asked me why this is on my blog. I posted it at Christmas since like most folks, I get a little nostalgic that time of year, but, its not really for me. I told Shannon McNair I had this when she was down in Alabama visiting with her daughter since it shows her childhood home a good bit (as well as her brother). I also told Elizabeth Peters about it who was one of my childhood friends since it shows both her parents quite a bit. I got a message from from my old pal Donald Gulledge about this post because he could not believe that Buster had black hair in this clip... Buster Norris is my late father and he was also the artist behind the "Snow Lady" in the clip, complete with pink dye dress. I will try and post more of these old home mov...

LG Vu, the most anticipated at&t phone since the iPhone?

I got a hands on look at the LG VU (pronounced "view") at the 2008 CTIA show and to put it mildly, I am very excited about this phone. Not just an iPhone clone, this phone is a ROCK SOLID iPhone clone with COOL NEW FEATURES! The most important and exciting new feature is the Mediaflo that adds TV surfing to your phone (with "cable style guide", no less). Mediaflo has already been made available on Verizon, however, at&t is adding an additional two exclusive channels, CNN and the "Sony Pix" movie channel to its lineup.
